Our plenary this year is on ‘Mental Health and Wellbeing’. There is a growing recognition that the higher education sector needs to take staff and student mental health more seriously. This one-day event explores student, PhD & ECR, and staff experiences in light of the current higher education sector context. Staff and students face growing stresses in an environment within which the language and incentives surrounding ‘wellbeing’ can sometimes seem like platitudes. This event offer the opportunity to consider the landscape of mental health and wellbeing as it currently stands. There will also reflection on mental health in HE from a historical perspective.
Speakers include Dr Sarah Crook (Swansea University), Dr. Charlotte Mathieon (University of Sussex), Dr. Alan Percey (University of Oxford/ Advance HE).
